Pete è stato cacciato dai Libertines poco dopo queste sessions, i motivi erano, a quanto ne so, due:

- i continui scazzi con Carl Barat (leader del gruppo insieme a Doherty)

- i suoi problemi con la droga. Pete, a quanto pare, era tossico dipendente (e tra l'altro era anche il pusher di Amy Winehouse, una famosa cantante). Faceva numerosi rave party nelle sue suite, nel suo appartamento o dove gli capitava, e la situazione era così grave che la ragazza che aveva a quel tempo (non Kate Moss, ma la cantante degli Screams, o almeno mi sembra che il gruppo si chiami così ;D), tra l'altro incinta del nostro Doherty (e, per la cronaca, successivamente si metterà con Liam Gallagher degli Oasis) e Carl Barat lo mandarono in clinica, dalla quale scappò pochi giorni dopo. Da allora fu un continuo via - vai da cliniche, andò perfino in una in Thailandia di monaci buddhisti, ma anche lì resistè pochissimo (non si sa come sia riuscito a tornare a casa, ma si dice che abbia raccattato dei soldi formando una band con dei thailandesi trovati in giro, e tra l'altro a quanto dicono si procurò anche una ferita da arma da fuoco, una specie di regolarmento di conti).

Carl Barat cercò di dare una spiegazione per l'allontanamento di Doherty dalla band, disse che Pete era ancora un suo caro amico e che i Libertines erano la sua band e che quando starà meglio lo accoglieranno a braccia aperte eccetera eccetera. Doherty invece sì arrabbiò maggiormente. Andò avanti con il suo side-project, i Babyshambles appunto, che ebbero molto più successo dei Libertines. Infatti questi ultimi nei live non riuscivano più a coinvolgere il pubblico quanto Pete faceva. Questa dote o si ha o non si ha.

Comunque, dopo tantissime peripezie del genere i Libertines infine si riuniranno nel 2011.

Ultimamente, navigando un po' per la rete, ho scoperto questo poeta - cantautore russo, Alexander Bashlachev, che nell'underground russo è molto famoso, mentre qui in Italia non se ne è quasi mai parlato, a quanto ne so. Nacque a Cherepovets, vicino a Mosca, e morì suicidandosi a 28 anni a Leningrado (San Pietroburgo) nel 1988. Scrisse molte canzoni raccolte in diversi bootleg o raccolte, come Лихo (link per il download: http://www.mediafire.com/?qdttmejywzg ). Egli arrivò quasi al riconoscimento ufficiale da parte dell'industria sovietica , anche grazie a un promoter di nome Troitsky, che lo incontro nell'84 a Cherepovets, e da quell'incontro diventarono amici e iniziarono a fare dei concerti in giro per la Russia. I suoi amici lo aiutarono in molti modi, gli diedero pure i soldi per comprarsi un appartamento, ma lui li spese per conto suo, forse per marijuana. Nel 1987 conobbe Nastya, studentessa di teatro, con la quale andò a vivere in un appartamentino a Mosca. Le cose andavano male, erano entrambi senza soldi, ma le cose peggiorarono ancora di più quando Nastya scoprì di essere incinta di Alexander. Poco tempo prima di diventare padre e di ricevere un contratto discografico, che lo avrebbe di certo aiutato finanzialmente, Alexander Bashlachev si buttò giù dalla finestra dell'appartamento.
